Lightning was zipping around Willy’s Butte, kicking up dust and practicing his power slides. Mater, his best friend, came by to ask for help moving some heavy crates at the tow yard.
He apologized to Mater and spent the rest of the afternoon helping at the tow yard.
"Looks like you're in a prickly situation, buddy!" Mater chuckled.

During a final practice run, Lightning took a turn too sharp and blew a tire. He skidded off the dirt track and got stuck deep in a patch of cactus. He tried to rev his engine, but he only sank deeper.
"Not now, Mater! I've got to shave two seconds off my lap time!" Lightning shouted.
