"It's January 6th, 2022," the man in the video said. His voice was steady, but his eyes were wide with a frantic sort of clarity. "If you’re watching this, the timestamp on the file says I recorded this four years ago. But for me, it’s only been ten minutes since the sky turned green."
The man in the video continued, "They’re going to tell you the 'Static Event' was a solar flare. They’re going to tell you the people who vanished just wandered off in the confusion. The video cut to black. The fans on Elias’s computer began to hum at a deafening pitch. "It's January 6th, 2022," the man in the video said
"I’m not recording a video," the man whispered, his image beginning to pixelate. "I’m uploading myself into the archive. Elias, if you're reading the file name, you've already opened the door. Look behind you." But for me, it’s only been ten minutes
Elias leaned in, his nose nearly touching the monitor. In the reflection of the man's spectacles, the room didn't end at a wall. It bled into a grid of shimmering, translucent code—lines of light that looked remarkably like the file structure of the very hard drive Elias was currently repairing.
