Elias leaned in, his voice barely a rasp. "Does he still have the watch I gave him?"

The weight of the silence in the room was heavier than any physical object. Detective Elias Thorne sat across from the woman he had been chasing for three seasons, her hands folded neatly on the cold metal table. The cameras were off. The tape was supposedly shredded. [S3E10] Yes/No

He thought of the files at home, the red string maps, and the empty seat at his dining table. He thought of the way she had looked at him on the pier before the sirens arrived. Elias leaned in, his voice barely a rasp

"One word, Elias," she whispered, her eyes catching the dim light of the interrogation lamp. "The truth only requires one. Do you want to know?" The cameras were off

"I can't give you a sentence," she prompted, a faint, cruel smile touching her lips. "The rules of the game have changed. Binary choice. Absolute stakes."
