Set in 1980, the story follows (Philippe Nahon), a man recently released from prison after an assault related to his mentally handicapped daughter, Cynthia. Desperate for a fresh start, he leaves Cynthia in an institution and moves to the suburbs of Lille with a pregnant mistress who promises him a new shop. When her promise proves to be a lie, his deep-seated bitterness turns into a violent, nihilistic obsession.
